| Pokemon 3: The Ultimate Soundtrack
Warning: Listening to these annoying pop albums may leave your brain cells fried to the extent where you are as mentally impaired as Johnny Rezeznik. Album Reviews is where I review the albums that come with the other wise crappy films/tv series. The albums don't tend to have any similarities between the movies. Oh yeah, they both suck!
1. Pokemon Johto: Movie Version I'm not going to bother to list the artist as it seems most of the tracks on this album are done by in house producers. That's not a good sign. Much like the first movie soundtrack, we get a more professional version of the TV theme(this is the TV theme used for "Pokemon: The Johto Journeys"). Also much like the TV theme from the first movie, it's not much better. Is it me or do we have another 5 year old kid singing here? If you're singing and you sound 10 years younger than you really are, that's probably not a good sign(atleast if you're a young singer). Makes you wonder why they bother making these new versions when they're not even any better if not worse than the originals. Especially in this case when we have the TV version on the same album. 2. To Know The Unknown - Innosense This is this album's big song(Innosense is the featured artist on the cover art). Dumb love song. Must I explain again why it's inappropriate for this movie? Innosense career certainly wasn't helped by being put on this album. It's two years later and I still haven't heard of them. And judging by this song, I can see why. It sounds like every other girl group song out there. Good luck girls, I don't see MTV in your future though. 3. Pikachu(I Choose You) Another song by our 5 year old in house producers. Bad attempt at sounding like something from Mexico. More homosexual overtones between Ash and Pikachu, which I guess after listening to this, is probably the love relationship they've been implying all this time. If you want a better Latin style song, listen to Mark Anthony, Ricky Martin, or anyone that actually comes from a Spanish speaking country. Unless you actually have an idea as to make Latin sounding music, you probably shouldn't even try. 4. All We Wanna Do This song talks about friendship and stuff. Crappy pop song. I don't have much to say about it, so that must make it the best album on the soundtrack by default. 5. He Drives Me Crazy More romantic crap. This couldn't be about Ash/Pikachu because the person(or the person that is suppose to be singing this song) is suppose to be female. This song is about a girl who likes this guy that apparently treats her like crap. What does this have to do with Pokemon? This guy sounds like a loser. My advice would be to dump the bastard. This song implies this girl is in a bad relationship, but doesn't give any advice as to how she can help her situation. Maybe that will come later in the album(probably not). 6. You & Me & Pokemon Ya know, typically you try not to use more than one "and" in a sentence, but enough about the dumb title, lets get to the song. This isn't much of a song. It's dragged out by dumb unnecessary instrumental solos and repeating of the chorus. If I saw someone singing this song, I would feel really sorry for them. 7. Song of Jigglypuff Oh no, Jigglypuff makes it's return from the first album. I told Mandah not to do any duets with Pokemon, but apparently the jerks that throw together these albums couln't be bothered to notice how talentless a singer Jigglypuff is as he totally ruined her song on the first album. He has a similar affect here. I would feel embarrassed to have to sing a song like this. They actually mention some of Jigglypuff's attacks here. That shows they atleast did some research. Unfortunately they say they're all pointless in comparrison to his sleep attack. If you play the Pokemon games, you know this isn't the case. It's not like you can just defeat your oponent by putting them asleep. They lose points for that. 8. Pokerap GS An update of the Pokerap. This upgrade is terrible. This sounds a lot like every other song on this album. I've been listening to these jerks for most of this album and they're still just as annoying as the first time I've listened to them. They just spell out "Pokemon" probably as some lame attmept at promoting literacy for the kiddies. Then they go on naming the Pokemon in the Gold and Silver versions of the game. Followed by a very occult sounding "Gotta Catch Em All" chant while some jerk yells "Party!" in the background sounded like we should give a damn about what he's yelling. I don't know why that guy is so enthusiastic. 9. Two Perfect Girls This song is about Brock I suppose who likes Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy. He makes reference to putting him in handcuffs. Great, a S&M referrence on a kid's album. Did I mention this guy can't sing his way out of a paper bag? "Awe Jenny!" This guy sounds like he should be doing pornos instead of singing. He couldn't possibly look as bad as he sings. 10. Pokemon Johto: TV Version Just as bad as the movie version. If the movie version is supposively suppose to be better than the TV version, why put it on here after the movie version at that? Your average Saturday morning cartoon theme. 4Kid's other TV themes are better than this stuff and that's saying a lot considering how crappy they all are. 11. Biggest Part Of My Life Oh great, they mispronounced "Pokemon." I guess these idiots never seen an accent mark before. This song talks about how this guy has nothing else better to do with his time other than to become a Pokemon Master. Not a great way to end the album. The last track is an instrumental. Not worth reviewing. Final note: Not quite as bad as the first movie's soundtrack, but not as good as the second one. This one made a greater attempt at staying true to Pokemon and the movie, but had some bad singing by no name in house producers. The only real improvement over the second album was the lack of ballads. That was good as they didn't fit the mood of the films. Overall, it was a much lousier effort than the second album(which wasn't such a good effort to begin with). It was as if they wanted to throw together an album as quick as possible with the name "Pokemon" on it. Definitely doesn't hold up to it's billing as the "Ultimate Soundtrack."
